How do I sign up for a Virtual School Course?

 

Download, complete and print the Virtual School Contract (see link). Take it to your counselor for approval. You will pay the campus bookkeeper your tuition and obtain a “payment received” signature on your contract

Are Aldine ISD Virtual School courses accredited?

 

Yes, the courses offered through Virtual School are accredited.

Can I attend Aldine Virtual School and my regular high school at the same time?

 

Yes, Virtual School is designed for students currently enrolled in an Aldine ISD school, as well as students who are enrolled in other school districts.

How many Virtual School courses can I take at one time?

 

Students will be allowed to take up to four Virtual School courses at one time, but it is recommended students take only two courses during a nine week term.

Will an Aldine Virtual School course credit transfer to another school district?

 

Aldine ISD awards credit that is completely transferable within the United States.

How long do I have to complete a course?

 

Students have 9 weeks to complete a course by working a minimum of 1.5 hours per day or an average of 8 hours per week.

What is the cost of tuition?

 

Tuition for a Virtual School course is $100 per course (.5 credit) plus a $25 admin. fee for a total of $125.

For out of district students the tuition fee is $150 per course
(.5 credit).

Can I drop the Course?

 

You have 10 days from the first day of the course to drop without penalty.

Can I get a refund?

 

Students may cancel enrollment and receive a reimbursement of $50.00 within 10 days of enrollment. A fee of $50.00 will be retained for administrative expenses.

Can I take more than one class at a time?

 

Yes, as long as your counselor approves it.

Can I take the first semester and second semester at the same time?

 

Unless it is noted that the first semester is a pre-requisite for the second semester, both semester courses can be taken at the same time if offered.

Is there a class size limit?

 

No.

Do the students have to be from Aldine ISD?

 

We will accept any student from any district as long as their counselor approves them to attend the virtual school.

Who do out of district students pay?

 

Out of district students will pay the campus they contacted or the District Coordinator for Online Learning will direct them.

Is there an attendance requirement?

 

You will be required to login a minimum of 8 hours per week.

Is it self-paced ( i.e. can I finish faster than the end date)?

 

There is an attendance responsibility. You can finish the course work as quickly as you need but you will need to login every day for attendance purposes.

Where are the final exams given?

 

The final exam is a face to face exam which will be given upon the completion of the course. Your eInstructor will schedule the time and location.

Is there a computer I can use somewhere?

 

A requirement for taking an online class is that you have a computer connected to the internet. If you are having computer issues contact your instructor.

Can an incoming freshman take a class in the summer before they start high school?

 

All students are eligible if the course is approved by their counselor. All incoming freshmen will need to get approval from their future 9th grade counselor.
