Mathematics Deparment Mission  
Mathematics Department Mission
The educational mission for the Department of Mathematics is to provide the students with the fundamental knowledge needed to function effectively in high school, college, and real world settings. This includes:
* addressing the needs of each student;
* presenting thought-provoking, challenging and engaging lessons;
* assisting students with integration of math skills in other disciplines and real world experiences.

7th Grade

1st Six Weeks

*Convert between fractions, decimals, whole numbers, and percents

*Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of integers

 2nd Six Weeks


*Locate and name points on a coordinate plan using ordered pairs
*Graph Reflections
*Graph Translations
*Squares and Square roots
*Order of operations including exponents
*Unit rates and ratios in proportional relationships
*Estimate and find solutions to application problems involving proportional relationships (sales tax, tip,

3rd Six Weeks

*Graph dilations, reflections, and translations

3rd Six Weeks


*Draw three-dimensional figures from perspective drawings
*Find lateral and total surface area of prisms, pyramids, and cylinders
*Connect models of prims, cylinders, spheres, and cones to formulas for volume
*Estimate measurements and use formulas to solve application problems involving lateral and total 
surface area and volume
*Dimensional changes with area and perimeter

4th Six Weeks

*Approximate irrational numbers
*Pythagorean Theorem
*Indirect measurement to solve problems
*Use geometric concepts and properties to solve problems
*Dependent and independent events
*Select and use differnt models to simulate an event *Analyze trends in scatterplots
*Use statistical measures (graphs) to describe data

5th Six Weeks

*Recognize misuses of graphical or numerical information
*Evaluate methods of sampling
*Select and use appropriate operations to solve problems

6th Six Weeks

*Use properties to simplify expressions
*Pythagoren Theorem in real world situations (indirect measurement)
*Add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers
